SNOW on Mauna Kea
Many media outlets on Hawai’i Island are reporting new snow fall on the peak of Mauna Kea this week and we couldn’t be more excited! Snow on the mauna (mountain) means an unfamiliar chill in the air bringing temperatures in Hilo and other lowland areas of the island below 70 degrees Fahrenheit. A rare and welcome change to unending tropical breezes, sun and temperatures in the 80s.
For peak epic adventure, grab your snowboard and drive up the Saddle Road with a few friends. Do a few runs then fill the back of your pickup with snow and see if you can get to the beach fast enough to build a snowman on the sand!
